The Joint Action Committee of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso has appealed to Governor Seyi Makinde and the school governing council to consider Mrs Oluyinka Adelakun Akinyode as new registrar.
The group, comprising of Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) and the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), made the plea on Friday in a communique made available to newsmen by its chairman, Comrade Fajoye Hamzat Oyelere.
According to the communique, Mrs AKINYODE performed excellently and brilliantly at the just concluded interview conducted for the applicants to the position of University Registrar by the university Governing Council.
Appealing to Governor Makinde to endorse from the nominations of the Governing Council and approve Mrs AKINYODE as the Substantive Registrar, the group said Mrs AKINYODE started her career from the scratch in LAUTECH Registry department in 1998 and has worked in all the units in the department under various Registrars in the last 26 years as a staff of the LAUTECH Registry without any blemish.
It added that the endorsement is in the best interest of the university to have a home groomed Registrar like Mrs AKINYODE who already knows and understands the LAUTECH system like the back of her hands and won’t have issues settling down into the office unlike another contestant who presently occupies the position of Registrar in another Oyo state owned university located in Ibadan.
The statement read in part: “Sequel to the conclusion of the LAUTECH Governing Council Selection Committee interview exercise for the candidates applied for the Principal officers of the university, the JAC has thrown its weight behind one of her members Mrs O.A AKINYODE to be appointed as the substantive Registrar.
JAC LAUTECH further appeals to Governor Seyi Makinde FNSE to approve the nomination of Mrs AKINYODE as she is best suited for the position having learnt and climbed the ropes in the LAUTECH Registry and also worked briefly as Acting Registrar in Ajayi Crowther University and not allowing the engine room (i.e the Registry department) of the University administration to go to persons who have little or no stake in the progress of the university till this moment when they feel climbing the tree can start from the top.
“In conclusion, JAC LAUTECH assures Governor Seyi Makinde FNSE that Mrs AKINYODE will get total support from the members and leadership of JAC and other unions in the university during her tenure as the LAUTECH Registrar.”
